12TH LIPA CITY TENPIN BOWLERS ASSOCIATION OPEN INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT
July 20-24, 2016
OBJECTIVES:
1. To promote the sports of bowling
2. To develop camaraderie and sportsmanship among fellow bowlers from different associations all over the country.
3. To raise additional funds for our student scholar at De La Salle Lipa.
I. SANCTION AND ELIGIBILITY
The 12th LCTBA Invitational Open Championships is organized by the officers and members of LIPA CITY TENPIN BOWLERS ASSOCIATION (LTCBA). This tournament is open to all bowlers in good standing.
This is a singles open tournament. There will be two (2) divisions, namely: OPEN MASTERS and ASSOCIATE MASTERS. The respective averages of the participating bowlers will be based on the latest listing released by the PBC. A bowler with no PBC average will be required to submit to the Tournament Committee a certificate duly signed by the respective association presidents vouching for the bowler’s true average. Bowlers without certified averages will be automatically assigned an average of 190 for male bowlers and 180 for female bowlers. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to confirm and assess the average of the participating bowlers.
HANDICAPING SYSTEM
A. OPEN MASTERS DIVISION
- Open to all bowlers regardless of PBC average.

NOTE: All bowlers 60yrs old and above will have +5 on top of their handicaps.
II. REGISTRATION
Registration of all duly accomplished entries and corresponding payments shall be accepted by the LCTBA treasurer / secretariat at the Fiesta Mall Billiards and Bowling Center. Entries shall be accepted subject to lane availability and squad time. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to accept or reject an entry, postpone, add or cancel any squad time.
All participants are encouraged to check-in at the tournament counter at least thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled squad time. The Bowling Center clock shall be the official time for the tournament.
All accounts of the bowlers should be fully paid prior to the finals. Bowlers who qualified for the finals cannot play if the dues are not fully paid.
III. UNIFORMS
Bowlers are encouraged to wear the official uniforms of their respective associations, clubs or sponsors. Sleeveless T-shirts and shorts shall not be allowed for male participants. Every bowler is expected to be properly dressed with appropriate bowling shoes for the tournament.
IV. FORMAT
Qualifying Round: To qualify, bowlers must play a minimum of Two squads of three (3) games per squad. Multiple entries are permitted and only the Two highest sets plus handicap shall be counted for their qualifying scores.
The top Thirty (30) bowlers qualify for the finals in the Open Masters and Associate Divisions.
The Thirty (30) qualifying players in the Associate Division will play a total of Eight ( games with lane transfer after every two (2) games. The Associate Division will be played with the sudden death format, i.e., the top five players will automatically win the tournament and awarded according to their respective positions.
For the Open Masters Division, the finalists will play a total of Ten (10) games with lane transfer after every Two (2) games. The top five bowlers based on total pinfalls with handicap will advance to the step-ladder matches.
STEPLADDER MATCHES FOR MASTERS DIVISION
Match 1: The 3rd, 4th and 5th seed will bowl a one game shoot-out match. The bowler with the highest score plus handicap will advance to Match 2.
Match 2: The winner of Match 1 will bowl a one game match with the 2nd seed. The bowler with the highest score plus handicap will advance to the Championship Match.
Championship Match: The winner of Match 2 will play against the Top Seed who has the twice-to-beat advantage.
The winner of this round will be declared the Champion.

VI. TOURNAMENTS FEES
Registration Fee: Associate Division: P2500 inclusive of 2 sets of 3 games per set (6 qualifying games)
: Open Masters Division: P2500 inclusive of 2 sets of 3 games per set (6 qualifying games)
Finals: Open Masters = P3,000
Associate Masters division = P2800
Note: Bowlers who wish to play at both divisions may register to the secretariat and pay P2,500 for the associate division and add P1,500 only for the Open Masters Division if they decide to qualify the same games for both divisions, provided they inform the secretariat or the tournament director of the event (________) ahead of time. This includes two (2) sets of three (3) games.
However if he wishes to play separate games for each division, he may pay P2,500 for the Associate Masters which includes two (2) sets of three (3) games, and pay another P2,500 only for the Open Masters Division which includes another two (2) sets of three (3) games.
Re-entry: P500 per retry of 3 games per set, multiple attempts are allowed.
- A bowler qualifying for one division may opt to qualify the same set to another division by just adding P300.00 only, provided they tell the secretariat or the tournament director of the event (_________) before the game.
VII. PRIZES
Open Masters Division
Champion - P50,000+Trophy
1st Runner-up - P25,000+Trophy
2nd Runner-up - P10,000+Trophy
3rd Runner-up - P5,000
4th Runner-up - P2,500
Associate Masters Division
Champion - P50,000+Trophy
1st Runner-up - P25,000+Trophy
2nd Runner-up - P10,000+Trophy
3rd Runner-up - P5,000
4th Runner-up - P2,500
P10,000 will be given to any bowler who rolls a PERFECT GAME. The cash prize will be equally divided among the winners for the duration of the tournament if more than one bowlers play a perfect game.
VIII. TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE
When a tie occurs, the bowler with the lower handicap shall prevail. If another tie occurs, the following tie-breaking procedure shall take effect. The bowler with the least difference between the highest and lowest games (including handicap) of the series shall gain the higher position.
In case of a tie during the step-ladder finals, a ninth and tenth frame roll-off will take effect to determine the winner.
IX. SCORESHEET
Official score sheets must be duly signed by the bowlers after each game to acknowledge their score. If the bowler fails to sign the score sheet, it is presumed correct and no protest shall be entertained. A tournament official must be called upon discovery of any scoring error and appropriate measures are implemented. Any player who deliberately tampers with the score sheet shall be disqualified by the Tournament Committee.
X. OPEN BOWLING
Once the tournament has started, participants shall not be allowed to practice bowling regardless of lane availability.
XI. MISSING OR DOWN PINS
Once the ball has been rolled, it shall be considered an official throw even if pins are lacking in the pin deck. Fallen or down pin(s) on the lanes must be reset. All bowlers are entrusted to abide by this rule. Participants are not allowed to reset the pins. Only lane men, tournament officials, scorers and marshals are allowed to reset the pins.
XII. LANE BREAKDOWN
If a single pair of lanes becomes inoperable during the qualifying round, any available lanes shall be assigned to the affected participant(s) or resume play in the next available squad. In case of machine breakdown during the finals, vacant lanes shall be assigned to the affected finalists. An incomplete game must resume from the point of frame of interruption. No shadow bowling shall be permitted on the lane transfer. If the bowler throw his ball on the wrong lane, he should remedy the error by throwing his ball on the correct lane soon after.
If the pinsetter lights turn off, the player must wait for the lights to be turned on again before throwing his ball. In case he has already thrown the ball and then the pinsetter lights turn off, it will already be considered an official throw, and the scores to be adjusted accordingly.
When a player chooses to discontinue play during the finals, a marshal may designate a Pacer if the remaining players request for one.
XIII. OILING
Uniform oiling shall be used throughout the tournament.
XIV. SLOW BOWLING
Bowlers ready to step on the approach and deliver their shot shall have the following rights and obligation:
a. He/she may claim the right of play over anyone moving to the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately to their left.
b. Players are encouraged not to delay going to the approach once a lane immediately adjacent to them on both sides is clear.
c. Observe lane courtesy.
XV. PROTEST
Protests must be made in writing and addressed to the Tournament Committee not later than 24 hours after the game in which the infraction was committed or prior to the awarding of prizes. Otherwise, such protest will not be entertained. The decision of the Tournament Committee is final.
XVI. INTERPRETATION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Tournament Committee shall be the sole interpreter of these rules and regulations. Its decision shall be final. World FIQ and PBC rules shall apply on matters not covered by these rules.
XVII. ACCOMODATION
