jorge,
resurfacing and refinishing wood lanes is normally done once every two or three years depending on how much pounding they take from balls going down the lanes particularly the heads.it looks like that the centers you mentioned are trying to save money by extending the cycle. bad idea!!! this is why a lot of centers are switching to synthetics, which are basically laminated overlays. the new ones are a
lot stronger than the first ones to come out. of course, they are cheaper to maintain over a period of time compared to the traditional wood lanes.
as for your favorites, roth is in new jersey operating his own center; webb lives in sacramento, CA and operates a couple of proshops that he owns. holman lives in medford, oregon and has an insurance agency he runs and competes on the celebrity golf tour. earl anthony passed away a few years ago after suffering a massive heart attack.dave husted lives in the portland area and runs two centers in milwaukie, OR. his son corey is starting to bowl in the PBA sattelite circuit. and almost bowl just like his dad and he is pretty good.
just go to the PBA website so you can find out more.
anyways, keep posting. i enjoy our debates. |

To Blackcloud -
Yes, I enjoy the discussions. More importantly, we have helped our fellow bowlers regarding what to watch out for. I expect to have more of such debates.
Thanks for the update on the retired bowlers. Too bad about Earl Anthony. He did have an earlier heart attack in the late 1970´s, but a mild one. I guess he did not take care of his condition.
Our debates have topgrossed in number of views, almost 190 so far. I guess others have found the topic interesting. Till next time, then.

jorge,
earl was a very competitive person. he played a lot of golf. was a color analyst for ESPN during the bowling telecast as well as the world team challenge during the mid 90´s. as a matter of fact
he came out of retirement to bowl in a couple of SR tour events. his first event
coming out of retirement, he placed 2nd and won the next event he bowled.
before that, he has not thrown a ball down the alley for three years. he was taking care of himself before the fatal heart attack. but given the built, he was due for one. fact of life. who else do you know? i can tell you where they are now. |

Pareng Black Cloud,
Thanks for the update, but I think we should continue retired bowler updates in the most recent topic (bowling like a girl). Baka ma-accuse pa tayo of being out of the topic. I just made a post there. Doon na lang natin ituloy ang info exchange.
