47TH MBA-SARIMANOK VALENTINE TENPIN BOWLING OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS


                 February 09 – 17, 2019



TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS



1.) Venue :  Coronado Lanes, Starmall, EDSA, Mandaluyong City

2.) Sanction :  Philippine Bowling Federation, Inc. / ABF

3.) Eligibility :  All bowlers (with certification of playing averages)

4.) Average :  Averages of Participants shall be based on the following order of
priority:

4.1) Latest PBF list of averages;
4.2) Association or Club average duly certified by their President or Tournament Director;
4.3) Those with no listed average shall be classified as class O bowler, unless he/ she provides a written certified average from a competent association or club officer, as determined by the Tournament Committee.

5.) Uniforms :  All players are required to wear bowling attire reflective of their
association, and/or club during the games. No short pants will be    
allowed for men, and sleeveless shirts will not be allowed as well.

6.) Handicapping Table:

7.) Masters’      :  This tournament is divided into 6 divisions, the Mixed Open, Mixed
    Format            Graded, Mixed Associate, Mixed Seniors, Mixed Youth, and Mixed Juniors Division.  To qualify in the Masters’ Final, a bowler must play a Minimum of 2 blocks of Singles Qualifying.  Each bowler may play multiple blocks and enter his 2 best blocks.  (No limit of re-entries).

7.1) Mixed Open Division
The Top Thirty Two (32) bowlers based on their best two (2) Singles Qualifying (SQs) will play in the Semi-final Round.  Only bowlers whose averages are 196 & above for Men, and 186 & above for Women will be allowed to play in the Open Division.
However, bowlers with certified playing average below the above averages have the option and may be allowed to play in the Open Division but will have the same handicap as bowlers in the Open Division where all men bowlers will have “0” handicap, while women bowlers will only be given +8 handicap.  Bowlers must also notify the tournament committee if they are registering their Singles Qualifying (SQs) in the Open Division.
There will be a guaranteed slot for the Top Six (6) Women qualifiers in the Masters’ Final.  Masters’ finalists will be playing twelve (12) games in the Semi-final Round.

7.2) Mixed Graded Division
The Top Thirty Six (36) bowlers based on their best two (2) Singles Qualifying (SQs) will play in the Masters’ Final.  Only bowlers whose averages are 181 to 195 for Men and 171 to 185 for Women will be allowed to play in the Classified Division.  
However, bowlers with certified playing average below the above averages have the option and may be allowed to play in the Graded Division but will have the same handicap as bowlers  in the Graded Division where all men bowlers will have “0” handicap, while women bowlers will only be given +12 handicap.
There will be a guaranteed slot for the Top Six (6) Women qualifiers in the Masters’ Final.  Masters’ finalists will be playing twelve (12) games in the finals and the top finisher will be declared as 47th MBA-Sarimanok Valentine Tenpin Bowling Open Championships Graded Division Champion.

7.3) Mixed Associate Division
The Top Forty Two (42) bowlers based on their best two (2) Singles Qualifying (SQs) will play in the Masters’ Final.  Only bowlers whose averages are 180 & below for Men, and 170 & below for Women, will be allowed to play in the Associate Division.
All men bowlers in the Associate Division will have “0” handicap, while women bowlers will only be given +12 handicap.
  There will be a guaranteed slot for the Top Six (6) Women qualifiers in the Masters’ Final.  Masters’ finalists will be playing ten (10) games in the finals and the top finisher will be declared as 47th MBA-Sarimanok Valentine Tenpin Bowling Open Championships Associate Division Champion.

7.4) Mixed Seniors Division
The Top Twenty Four (24) bowlers based on their best two (2) Singles Qualifying (SQs) will play in the Masters’ Final.  
There will be a guaranteed slot for the Top Six (6) Women qualifiers in the Masters’ Final.  Bowlers’ handicap will be based on the Tournament’s Handicapping Schedule.  
Masters’ finalists will be playing ten (10) games in the finals and the top finisher will be declared as 47th MBA-Sarimanok Valentine Tenpin Bowling Open Championships Seniors Division Champion.

7.5) Mixed Youth Division  
The Top Eighteen (1Cool bowlers based on their best two (2) Singles Qualifying (SQs) will play in the Semi-final Round.  
 There will be a guaranteed slot for the Top Six (6) Girl qualifiers in the Masters’ Final.  All Boys in the Mixed Youth Division will have “0” handicap, while the Girls will only be given +8 handicap.  Masters’ finalists will be playing eight (Cool games in the Semi-final Round.

7.6) Mixed Juniors Division  
The Top Eighteen (1Cool bowlers based on their best two (2) Singles Qualifying (SQs) will play in the Masters Final.  Only bowlers whose ages are 14 & below as of the start of the tournament and with a certified bowling average of not higher than 150 pinfalls will be allowed to play in the Mixed Juniors Division.  
 There will be a guaranteed slot for the Top Two (2) Girls qualifiers in the Masters’ Final.  Bowlers’ handicap will be based on the Tournament’s Handicapping Schedule.
  Masters’ finalists will be playing eight (Cool games in the finals and the top finisher will be declared as 47th MBA-Sarimanok Valentine Tenpin Bowling Open Championships Juniors Division Champion.

7.7) Final Round (Mixed Open/ Mixed Youth):
The Top 5 players after the semi-final round in the Mixed Open division and the Top 3 players in the Mixed Youth division will advance to the Stepladder Final.  

7.Cool Stepladder Final Match
Round I:  Open Division: Winner among 5th, 4th, and 3rd placers for the Mixed Open division will advance to Round II. Position standing from the Semi-final round is retained unless the proceeding player or bowler overtakes the proceeding player in the shoot-out match.   Youth Division:  Winner between the 3rd, and 2nd placers for the Mixed Youth division will advance to the Championship Round.  Position standing from the Semi-final round is retained unless the proceeding player or bowler overtakes the proceeding player in the shoot-out match.  
Round II: The winner of Round I for the Mixed Open division will play against the 2nd placer and the winner will advance to the Championship Round.
Championship Round: Winner of Round II for the Mixed Open division and Round I of the Mixed Youth division will play against the top qualifier of their division, in a one-game sudden death match.
The winner for the Mixed Open division and Mixed Youth division will be declared as 47th MBA-Sarimanok Valentine Tenpin Bowling Open Championships Masters Champions in their respective divisions.

8.) All-Events : The first nine (9) qualifying games (first 3 blocks/ sets) bowled by bowler participants in the Open, Graded, and Associate divisions shall be counted as their All-Events score.  A bowler will be allowed
 to Double-up his/her All-Events but STRICTLY FOR ONLY ONE  
 (1) other Division different from what he has registered AND has to
 inform the secretariat  immediately upon registration, otherwise his/her
 All-Events will only be counted as he/she has registered

12.) All-Events Prize:
The first three (3) blocks/ sets of qualifying, counted as the bowler’s All-Events qualifying scores in the Open, Graded, and Associate divisions, shall be given cash prizes as follows:

Champion P  3,000.00
1st Runner-up     2,000.00
2nd Runner-up     1,000.00
 
The Highest Female finisher in the Open, Graded, Associate, and Seniors divisions who will not finish in the Top Five (5) will be given a special cash prize of P3,000.00, however if there is already a female in the Top five (5), then the prize will no longer be given.  

13.) Ties : Tie Breaker:  In case of tie in the qualifying round, the bowler with the with the lowest difference in the high-low rule will be ranked higher.  In shoot-out matches, roll-off of the 9th and 10th frames will determine the winner of the match.

14.) Reservations: Reservation to play in a particular squad is allowed on a first- come- first-serve basis.

15.) Refunds : No refund of fees will be made after the payment has been accepted.    
 
16.) Scores : Maximum score is  300  pinfalls,  inclusive of  the  bowlers’ given handicap, if any.  It is the bowlers’ responsibility to verify the correctness of his/her scores by signing the score sheet.  No protest will be entertained in this area.

17.) Changes in Ball Surface:
Scuffing or any changes in ball surface can only be done in between games and must be performed only in designated areas behind the bowlers’ area.

18.) Other Rules : Loss of Score:  In case of loss score in any game a bowler must re-bowl his game.

Any alteration by the players on their bowling balls outside of the rules as provided for in Rule #17 will cause the bowler’s disqualification.

Protests: Protests will be entertained in written forms.

Lane breakdowns:  Bowlers will transfer in case of lane breakdowns for more than thirty minutes.

19.) PBF Rules : World Bowling/ ABF/ PBF Rules on Tenpin Bowling shall apply if a given situation is not covered by the rules and regulations mentioned above.  

20.) Interpretations of Rules:
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make the final interpretation of the rules and regulations.
