On behalf of the officers and the board of trustees fo the Philippine Bowling Federation, we would like to invite you to come and join the 2nd PBF Philippine National Open on November 10 - 18, 2018. Attached herein is the rules and regulation of the said tournament. We would be honoured to have you gracing the opening ceremonies on November 10 at 11:00a.m. at the Coronado Lanes Starmall, Mandaluyong City. It gives us great pride and pleasure to invite you and your members to participate in the 2nd PBF Philippine National Championships which will be held from November 10 – 18, 2018 at Coronado Lanes, Starmall, Edsa Mandaluyong.
The singles event is open to ALL BONA FIDE PBF MEMBERS and will feature the country’s best and most promising bowlers across all ages. The National championships will be another steppingstone in training and exposing our bowlers to play at high levels of competition amongst other participants. We would be honored to see you and your bowlers play during the Opening Day on November 10, 2018, Saturday, immediately following after the opening ceremonies at 11:00a.m.
Attached herein is a copy of the tournament rules and regulations together with its respective masters finals schedule. Feel free to contact our tournament committee members.
As the last and final circuit stop for 2018, all participants shall be given 10 participation points, double ranking points and double average points to vie for the top 12 positions of each classification for the PBF National Match Play on January 5 and 6, 2019 with over ONE MILLION PESOS worth of prizes to be given away.
The Philippine Bowling Federation Inc. (PBF) aims to advance the sport of Tenpin Bowling and develop interest and participation in the sport of bowling throughout the Philippines and advance the spirit of good fellowship and better relations among bowlers for the betterment of their interests in relation to bowling in general.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
ORGANIZATION AND SANCTION
The 2018 Philippine Bowling Federation National Championships is organized by the Philippine Bowling Federation (PBF). Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) and World Bowling (WB) playing rules and regulations shall apply on matters not covered herein.
ELIGIBILITY
This tournament is open to all certified PBF Members.
AVERAGES
Average will be based on the latest listing of average. Bowlers without established average shall furnish a copy of his/her average certification from their respective association signed by their President or Tournament Director; otherwise they will be classified as Class O bowler with an average of 196 for male and 186 for female bowler. Any misdeclaration of average by bowlers will result in disqualification from the tournament and no refund shall be made.
CLASSIFICATION
Mixed Open - open to all male and female bowlers.
Men’s Graded - open to all male bowlers with average of 195 and below.
Men’s Associate - open to all male bowlers with average of 180 and below.
Ladies’ Division - open to all female bowlers with average of 185 and below.
Mixed Youth - open to all youth bowlers born on January 1, 1997 and beyond.
Juniors’ Division - open to all youth bowlers with 14 years of age and below, as of
November 18, 2018 and with an average not exceeding 150.
Men’s Senior - open to all male senior bowlers.
Ladies’ Senior - open to all female senior bowlers.
The senior’s category is open only to players 50 years old and above and those who will be 50 years old by December 31, 2018.
MANNER OF PLAY
The 2018 Philippine Bowling Federation National Championships is a singles tournament.
MASTERS QUALIFYING
Qualifiers will be ranked based on their best two (2) blocks bowled. Each block shall consist of three (3) games. (Multiple attempts allowed). Last day of qualifying for a specific class will be the day before the scheduled Masters finals.
MASTERS FINALS
Mixed Open Masters – Top 24 qualifiers consisting of 6 ladies and 18 mixed shall play 12-game series with lane movement every game. Top three (3) bowlers will advance to the Step-ladder Finals.
Step-ladder Finals:
Match 1 - The 2nd and 3rd placer after the 1st Round will bowl one (1) game to determine the challenger to the top finisher.
Match 2 – Winner of Match 1 and the 1st placer will bowl the best of three game matches. The bowler to win two matches will be declared winner.
Men’s Graded Masters – Top 30 qualifiers shall play 12-game series with lane movement after every game and positioning on the last game. Top 6 bowlers shall be given prizes.
Men’s Associate Masters – Top 30 qualifiers shall play 10-game series with lane movement after every game and positioning on the last game. Top 6 bowlers shall be given prizes.
Ladies Division – Top 15 qualifiers shall play 8-game series with lane movement after every game and positioning on the last game. Top 4 bowlers shall be given prizes.
Mixed Youth Masters – Top 18 qualifiers (6 girls and 12 mixed) will play 8-game series with lane movement after every game. Top 3 bowlers will advance to the Step-ladder Finals.
Step-ladder Finals:

HANDICAP
Mixed Open Masters: All female participants shall be given a plus eight (+8)
Male Female
Mixed Youth Masters: 196 and above 0 8
186 – 195 4 8
181 – 185 8 12
171 – 180 12 16
170 and below 16 20
Junior Masters : All girl participants shall be given a plus eight (+8)
Ladies Division: All ladies with an average of 170 and below shall be given a plus eight (+8)
Seniors Division:
Age handicap will be applied: Senior’s age as of November 9, 2018 less 50 shall be their handicap. No handicap for all Class O senior bowlers. However, said senior must be able to present any legitimate ID such as passport, driver’s license, SSS/GSIS ID, etc.
MAXIMUM SCORE
Maximum score is 300 pinfalls, inclusive of the bowler’s given handicap, if any. It is the bowler’s responsibility to verify the correctness of his/her score by signing the score sheet. No protest will be entertained in this area.
TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE
When a tie occurs in any position in the Masters Qualifying and Masters Finals, the bowler with the least difference between the highest and the lowest game of the series, shall occupy the higher position. If the tie still exists, the bowler with the highest last game shall break the tie. If the tie still exists, the previous game before the last game shall be used until the tie is broken.
In case of a tie in the step-ladder finals, the 9th and 10th frames shall be bowled until the tie is broken.

REGISTRATION
All entries shall be duly accomplished and the corresponding payments shall be submitted to the PBF Secretariat, except those entries which are on “Charge Account”, said entries will be allowed only when the “Charge Account” is accompanied by a blank check issued payable to PBF. All entries shall be subject to availability of lane and squad. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to accept or reject entry, as well as adjust the playing schedule as the need arises or the situation warrants.
CHECK-IN TIME
All participants must check-in at the tournament counter at least fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled squad time. The Bowling Center time shall be the official time of the tournament.
UNIFORMS
Bowlers are required to wear proper bowling uniform. Any bowling uniform is allowed except sleeveless t-shirts. No shorts shall be allowed to male participants. The Tournament Committee shall not allow a participant to bowl without a proper uniform.
OILING - Uniform oiling shall be used all throughout the tournament.
OPEN BOWLING – When the tournament has started, participants shall not be allowed to play open bowling regardless of lane availability in the venue of the tournament.
BOWLING BALLS
Bowling balls used in the tournament must comply with legality rules. Markers of any kind except inherent mark on the ball itself shall not be allowed. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to examine any ball used by the participant. Use of illegal balls is ground for disqualification of a participant from the tournament and the erring bowler shall be stripped of his /her winnings, position or standing including the perfect game.
SCORESHEET
Official score sheets must be signed by the bowlers after each game to acknowledge his/her score. If the bowler fails to sign his/her score sheets, it is presumed that the score is correct and no protest on such basis shall be entertained. A tournament official upon discovery of any error must immediately correct errors in scoring or in calculation while the game is still in progress or right after the games are played. Questionable errors shall be declared/decided by the Tournament Committee. Any player who deliberately tampers his/her score sheet shall be disqualified immediately from further participation in the tournament. In case where the scoreboard does not reflect the true and correct score of a player and the player himself/herself overlooked it, any player who has recognized it can call the attention of any officer designate or any Tournament Official and have it changed.
MISSING OR DOWN PIN(S)
A frame with missing pin(s), once the ball is rolled shall be treated as good ball. A frame with fallen or down pin (s) on the pin deck must be reset. All bowlers are entrusted to monitor and abide by this rule. Bowlers are not allowed to reset the pins – only lane men, tournament officials and official scorers are allowed.
LANE BREAKDOWN
If a pair of lanes becomes unusable or unplayable for more than 30 minutes before or during the squad games, any available pair of lanes provided by the bowling center shall be assigned to affected participant(s) or shall wait for the next available squad. In case of machine breakdown during the masters final, vacant lanes shall be assigned to affected finalists. Any interrupted game or series must resume from the point (frame) of interruption. No shadow bowling shall be allowed.
FOUL LINES
Bowlers must at all times observe foul lines. If the automatic foul device becomes temporary inoperative, the Tournament Committee shall assign marshal(s) to act as foul judge(s). Official scorers are also designated to monitor fouls committed by bowlers. Spectators shall not be permitted to interfere with the calls of the duly designated foul judge.
PROTEST
Any protest must be done in writing and addressed to the Tournament Committee not later than 24 hours after the game in which that infraction was committed on or prior to the awarding of prizes, whichever comes first. Under this rule, protest shall be specific in itself and the decision on the protest shall not be construed to cover a similar or previous violations. The decision of the Tournament Committee is final and cannot be appealed.
RESTRICTIONS AT THE BOWLER’S AREA
Other than the registered player, only tournament officials and coach of player shall be allowed to enter the bowler’s area. Only one registered coach shall be allowed for each bowler. When leaving the playing area during the competition, the bowler is requested to ask permission from the marshal or any other tournament official. Smoking, eating, drinking alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the bowler’s area are strictly prohibited. Bowlers are not allowed to use powder or any other substance to enhance slides in the lanes. Bowling shoes must be wiped off before one attempts to start bowling.
INTERPRETATION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Tournament Committee shall be the sole interpreter of these rules and regulations. Its decision shall be final.
