whats is suppose to happen? after placing that balance hole? the mark with a tape is my PAP - as the proshop driller told me...
I asked him for more hook.. he said the drilling was illegal and so he drilled a balance hole... others say this hole will decrease the hook... can this still be fixed?

Hi Sam,

First of all, I would like to thank you for posting some inquiries in this thread.
In my opinion, looking at the picture, there is no problem with the bowling ball.
If I get it right, the bowling was drilled for right hand with an extra hole.
Based on your question, it was not totally clear to me because you are asking "whats is suppose to happen? after placing that balance hole? the mark with a tape is my PAP - as the proshop driller told me...
I asked him for more hook.. he said the drilling was illegal and so he drilled a balance hole... others say this hole will decrease the hook...
I'm assuming that the original drilling of the bowling ball was without a balance hole that's why the proshop driller told you that the bowling ball was illegal which requires weight specification.
If you are not familiar with the weight specification, for your information, the required limit for positive & negative side weight together with finger & thumb weights must not go over 1oz. For the Top & Bottom weight should be be over 3oz.
Now, to make the ball legal, it is a must a drill a balance hole to make the illegal ball legal.
If you are referring to the tape which is your PAP (Positive Axis Point), then it is just simple that the balance hole was drilled below your PAP which will make your ball more action at the backend. My drilling the balance hole on your PAP will decrease flare potential and will give you a smooth controllable backend reaction.
But I just want to inform you that buying a second hand ball with the existing holes & pitches of the original user and not repairing it and without using your own measurement will most probably not the right solution.
There are lots of factor to consider in drilling a bowling ball.
I hope I was able to answer your query. thanks
