2013 TBAM Juniors-Prima Pasta Challenge

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. ORGANIZATION
This 24th TBAM-Boysen Easter Open Bowling Championships
is organized by the Tenpin Bowlers’ Association
of Makati (TBAM) and sanctioned by the Philippine
Bowling Congress (PBC).
FIQ/WTBA playing rules and regulations shall apply on
matters not covered herein.
2. ELIGIBILITY
All PBC members in good standing are eligible to play in this tournament.
3. AVERAGES
Bowlers are classified according to the latest PBC listing of averages. Classifications are as follows:

n. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to
disregard the “certified” average of a bowler.
4. HANDICAPS
4.1. For the Senior Masters, the following handicap shall be applied:

4.2. For the Singles, Doubles and Team Events in the Ladi
es Division, bowlers will be given a handicap as
follows:

4.3. Members of the National Training Pool and National Youth Team with PBC average below 196 (for
men) and 186 (for women) will be assigned wi

5. REGISTRATION
All entries shall be duly accomplished, and the corr
esponding payments shall be
submitted to the TBAM
Registration Table at E-Lanes, except those entries which are on “CHARGE ACCOUNT,” said entries to be
allowed only when the “CHARGE ACCO
UNT” is accompanied by a blank ch
eck issued payable to TBAM. All
entries shall be subject to the availability of lane an
d squad. The Tournament Committee reserves the right
to accept or reject entry, as well as adjust the playin
g schedule, as the need arises
or the situation warrants.
6. CHECK-IN TIME
All participants must check-in at th
e tournament counter at least fifteen
(15) minutes before the scheduled
squad time. The Bowling Center Time shall be the official time of the tournament. Games of late players
shall be forfeited without refund and the slot shall be given to the reserves.
7. UNIFORMS
Street clothes, at all times, shall not be allowed.
Rather, bowlers must wear uniforms reflective of their
association, congresses, federation, clubs or sponsor. Sl
eeveless shirts are not allowed. No shorts allowed for
male participants. Wearing of caps or hats is not allowed. Every bowler is expected to be properly dressed
for bowling. The Tournament Committee shall not allo
w a participant to bowl without the required uniform
and /or attire.
8. EVENTS
There will be four (4) divisions for the events: Men’s Cla
ss O, A, and B, and Ladies. In the Ladies Division,
total pin falls plus handicap
shall determine the winners.
Highest three (3) scores in each division (men
and ladies) shall be declared as champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd
runner-up. A double or a team with the same line-up can play unlimited number of attempts, but
only the highest series shall be considered.
8.1. All Events (AE)
– The bowler’s first attempt in the double
s, and team events and the first two (2)
singles attempts (including handicap
for the Ladies Division) shall
count towards his/her All Events
score. Top three (3) bowlers in each di
vision shall be declared champion, 1st runner-up & 2nd runner-up respectively.
To qualify for any award and to compete in the Masters finals, a bowler must
complete his/her all events.
8.2. Singles/Qualifying (S/Q)
– consists of a 3-game series plus ha
ndicap. Bowler’s scor
e in his/her singles
attempts shall automatically be considered
as his/her score in the qualifying event.
The bowler’s
highest two (2) singles attempts shall count for the singles event.
Double entries are allowed for Senior and Youth qualif
ying only provided that this has been declared
with the secretariat prior to the start of the sq
uad and corresponding fees
have been paid (see
Section 26: Fees).
8.3. Doubles Event (D)
– consists of a 2-game series (including ha
ndicap) played by two (2) male or two (2)
female bowlers.
8.4. Team Event (T)
– consists of a 2-game seri
es (including handicap) played
by three (3) male or three
(3) female bowlers.
9. MASTERS EVENT
To qualify for the masters events, qualifiers should play
at least 2 sets of singles. Qualifiers will be ranked
based on their best 2 sets of singles played during the
qualifying period. Last day of
qualifying for a specific
division will be the day before the sc
heduled division’s masters finals.
9.1. Mixed Open Masters
– this is open to all male and female bowlers. Top 29 qualifiers plus the
defending champion (2012 TBAM-Boysen Mixed Open
Masters Champion) shall play an 8-game series
(with handicap) with lane movement every game. Fema
le bowlers will be given a handicap of +8. The
top 12 bowlers after 8 games will proceed
to the next round. Scores from the 1st round will be carried
over to the next round. The twelve (12) remaining bowlers will play another 6 games. Top 5 bowlers
after the 2nd round will advance to the Eliminator Challenge.
The top 3 bowlers after 14 games will be given sp
ecial prizes (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 5 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. After the game, the bowlers with the two (2) lowest scores (with handicap) are
eliminated and will be declared 3rd and 4th Runners-up respectively.
The remaining 3 bowlers will bowl another game.
There will be no bonus pinfalls given to the
remaining three (3) bowlers. The bowler with the
lowest score is eliminated and will be declared 2nd Runner-up.
The remaining 2 bowlers will play another game and the bowler with the highest score will be
declared the Champion while the bowler with the lower score will be 1st Runner-up.
In case of tie, a roll-off in the 9th and 10th
frames shall be played and shall continue until the tie is broken.
9.2. Men’s Graded Masters
– this is open to male bowlers with
an average not exceeding 195. Top 24
qualifiers shall play a 10-game series with lane
movement after every game. Top 5 bowlers after 10
games will advance to the Eliminator Challenge.
The top bowler after 10 games will be given a special prize (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 5 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. The top two (2) bowlers will be give
n an additional 10 and 5 bonus pinfalls respectively
for the first eliminator round only
. After the game, the bowlers with the two (2) lowest scores (with
handicap) are eliminated and will be declared 3rd and 4th Runners-up respectively.
The remaining 3 bowlers will bowl another game.
There will be no bonus pinfalls given to the
remaining three (3) bowlers. The bowler with the
lowest score is eliminated and will be declared 2nd Runner-up.
The remaining 2 bowlers will play another game and the bowler with the highest score will be
declared the Champion while the bowler with the lower score will be 1st Runner-up.
In case of tie, a roll-off in the 9th and 10th
frames shall be played and shall continue until the tie is broken.
9.3. Men’s Associate Masters
– this is open to male bowlers with
an average not exceeding 180. Top 24
qualifiers shall play an 8-game series with lane
movement after every game. Top 5 bowlers after 8
games will advance to the Eliminator Challenge.
The top bowler after 8 games will be given a special prize (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 5 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. The top two (2) bowlers will be give
n an additional 10 and 5 bonus pinfalls respectively
for the first eliminator round only
. After the game, the bowlers with the two (2) lowest scores (with
handicap) are eliminated and will be declared 3rd and 4th Runners-up respectively.
The remaining 3 bowlers will bowl another game.

The top bowler after 8 games will be given a special prize (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 3 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. After the game, the bowler with the
lowest score is eliminated and will be declared 2nd Runner-up. The remaining 2 bowlers will bowl another game.
The bowler with the highest score will
be declared the Champion while the bowler with the lower score will be 1st Runner-up.
In case of tie, a roll-off in the 9th and 10th frames shall be played and shall continue until the tie is broken.
9.5. Mixed Ladies Masters
– this is open to all female bowlers
with an average not exceeding 185. Top 24
(8 graded/8 associate/8 mixed) bowlers shall play an 8-game series with lane movement after every
game. Top 5 bowlers after 8 games will advance to the Eliminator Challenge.
The top bowler after 8 games will be given a special prize (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 5 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. The top two (2) bowlers will be give
n an additional 10 and 5 bonus pinfalls respectively
for the first eliminator round only
. After the game, the bowlers with the two (2) lowest scores (with
handicap) are eliminated and will be declared 3rd and 4th Runners-up respectively.
The remaining 3 bowlers will bowl another game.
There will be no bonus pinfalls given to the
remaining three (3) bowlers. The bowler with the
lowest score is eliminated and will be declared 2nd Runner-up.
The remaining 2 bowlers will play another game and the bowler with the highest score will be
declared the Champion while the bowler with the lower score will be 1st Runner-up.
In case of tie, a roll-off in the 9th and 10th frames shall be played and shall continue until the tie is broken.
9.6. Men’s Senior Masters
– only male whose ages are 50 (as of
March 31, 2013) and above shall be
allowed to play. Top 18 qualifiers for men shall play
an 8-game series with lane movement after every
game. The top 3 bowlers after 8 games will be advance to the Eliminator Challenge.
The top bowler after 8 games will be given a special prize (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 3 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. After the game, the bowler with the
lowest score is eliminated and will be declared 2nd Runner-up. The remaining 2 bowlers will bowl another game.
The bowler with the highest score will
be declared the Champion while the bowler with the lower score will be 1st Runner-up.
In case of tie, a roll-off in the 9th and 10th frames shall be played and shall continue until the tie is broken.
9.7. Ladies’ Senior Masters
– only female bowlers whose ages are 50 (as of March 31, 2013) and above
shall be allowed to play. Top 12 qualifiers for ladies
shall play an 8-game se
ries with lane movement
after every game. The top 3 bowlers after 8 games will be advance to the Eliminator Challenge.
The top bowler after 8 games will be given a special prize (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 3 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. After the game, the bowler with the
lowest score is eliminated and will be declared 2nd Runner-up. The remaining 2 bowlers will bowl another game.
The bowler with the highest score will
be declared the Champion while the bowler with the lower score will be 1st Runner-up.
In case of tie, a roll-off in the 9th and 10th frames shall be played and shall continue until the tie is broken.
9.8. Youth Mixed Masters –
this is open to all youth bowlers who were born in 1992 and the years that
follow. Top 30 qualifiers (10 boys/10 girls/10 mixed)
shall play an 8-game series (with handicap) with
lane movement after every game. Top 5 bowlers after 8 games will advance to the Eliminator
Challenge.
The top bowler after 8 games will be given a special prize (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 5 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. The top two (2) bowlers will be give
n an additional 10 and 5 bonus pinfalls respectively
for the first eliminator round only
. After the game, the bowlers with the two (2) lowest scores (with
handicap) are eliminated and will be declared 3rd and 4th Runners-up respectively.
The remaining 3 bowlers will bowl another game.
There will be no bonus pinfalls given to the
remaining three (3) bowlers. The bowler with the
lowest score is eliminated and will be declared 2nd Runner-up.
The remaining 2 bowlers will play another game and the bowler with the highest score will be
declared the Champion while the bowler with the lower score will be 1st Runner-up.
In case of tie, a roll-off in the 9th and 10th frames shall be played and shall continue until the tie is broken.
9.9. 18-and-under Mixed Masters -
this is open to all youth male and female bowlers who were born in
1995 and the years that follow and with an average no
t exceeding 180. Top 12 qualifiers shall play a
6-game series with lane movement after every
game. The top 3 bowler
s after 6 games will be
advance to the Eliminator Challenge.
The top bowler after 6 games will be given a special prize (please see Schedule of Prizes).
Eliminator Challenge:
In the eliminator format, the top 3 bowlers will bowl one game on the same
pair of lanes. After the game, the bowler with the
lowest score is eliminated and will be declared 2nd Runner-up. The remaining 2 bowlers will bowl another game.
The bowler with the highest score will
be declared the Champion while the bowler with the lower score will be 1st Runner-up.
In case of tie, a roll-off in the 9th and 10th frames shall be played and shall continue until the tie is broken.
10. TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE
When a tie occurs in any position in the qualifying an
d singles, the bowler with the least difference between
the highest and the lowest game (including handicap) of the series shall occupy the higher position. When a
tie occurs in any position in the double events, the lease difference between the highest and the lowest
combined score of the team (including handicap) of
the series shall occupy the higher position.
In case of a tie for the top 5 positions in any Masters
event, the bowler with the least difference between the
highest and the lowest game (including handicap) of
the series shall occupy the higher position.
11. BOWLING BALLS
Bowling balls used in the tournament must comply with
legality rules. Markers of any kind, except inherent
marks on the ball itself, are not allowed. The Tournament Committee reserves the
right to examine the ball
used by the participant. Use of illegal balls is a ground for disqualification of a participant from the
tournament and the erring bowler shall stripped off of all his/her winnings,
position or standing.
12. SCORESHEET
Official score sheets must be signed by the bowlers after each game to acknowledge his/her score. If the
bowler fails to sign his/her score sheets, it is presumed
that the score is correct an
d no protest on such basis
shall be entertained. For team and doubles events,
the designated captain must sign the score sheets.
A tournament official immediately upon discovery of an
error must correct errors in scoring or in calculation
in the tournament play. Questionable errors shall
be declared/ decided by the Tournament Committee.
Any player who deliberately tampers his/her score sh
eets shall be disqualified
immediately from further
participation in the tournament.
13. OPEN BOWLING
When the tournament has started, participants shall not
be allowed to play open bowling regardless of lane
availability in the venue of the tournament.
14. MISSING OR DOWN PIN(S)
A frame with missing pin(s), once the ball is rolled shall
be treated as a good ball, a frame with fallen or down
pin(s) on the pin deck must be reset. All bowlers are
entrusted to monitor and abide by this rule. Bowlers are
not allowed to reset the pins; only lane men, tournament officials and official scorers are allowed.
15. LANE ASSIGNMENT
Games shall be played in a pair of lanes immediately adjacent to each other.
16. LANE BREAKDOWN
If a lane or pair of lanes becomes unusable for more than twenty (20) minutes before or during the squad
games, any available lanes provided by the bowling center
shall be assigned to affected participant (s) or shall
wait for the next available squad. In case of machine breakdown during finals, vacant lanes shall be assigned
to unaffected finalist. An interrupted game or series must resume from the point (frame) of interruption. No
shadow bowling shall be allowed.
17. PACER
When a player chooses to discontinue his/her game du
ring the finals, a marshal may designate a pacer. But
for singles, doubles, team or qualifying event, no pacer shall be allowed.
18. FOUL LINES
Bowlers must at all times observe foul lines. If the
automatic foul device becomes temporarily inoperative,
the Tournament Committee shall
assign Marshall to act as a foul judge. Official scorers are also designated to
monitor fouls committed by bowlers and spectators shall
not be permitted to interfere with the calls of the
duly designated foul judge.
19. OILING
Uniform oiling shall be used
throughout the tournament.
20. SLOW BOWLING
Bowlers, who are in readiness to step on the approach
to deliver a ball, shall have the following rights and
obligations.
20.1. They may claim right of way over anyone moving to the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane
immediately on their left.
20.2. Players ready to bowl when it is their turn should
not delay to go to the approach, if a lane a lane
immediately adjacent to them on both sides is clear.
21. PROTEST
Protest must be done in writing and addressed to the Tournament Committee not later than 24 hours after
the game in which that infraction was committed on or
prior to the awarding of prizes, whichever comes first.
Otherwise such protest shall not be entertained. Under this rule, protest shall be specific in itself and the
decision on the protest shall not be construed to cover a similar or previous violation. The decision of the
Tournament Committee is final and cannot be appealed.
22. RESTRICTIONS AT BOWLER’S AREA
22.1. Other than the registered players, tournament officials and coaches of players/team shall be allowed
to enter the bowler’s area.
22.2. Only one registered coach shall be allowed for each bowler.
22.3.  When leaving the playing area during the competition, the bowler is requested to ask permission from
the marshal or any tournament official.
22.4. Smoking, eating and drinking alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the bowler’s area are strictly
prohibited. And no bowler who is under the in fluence of liquor shall be allowed to bowl.
22.5. The use of powder or any other substances intended to enhance slides in the
lanes shall at all times prohibited.
23. INTERPRETATION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
23.1. The Tournament Committee shall be the sole interpreter of these rules and regulations. Its decision
shall be final.
23.2. World FIQ and PBC rules shall apply to
matters not covered by these rules.
