Angelo: do you require a bowler to go frequently to the gym...to be able to be fit and last bowling tournaments or marathons? pano kung wala kang time to go to the gym whats an alternative?

it´s not necessariyl going to the gym everyday. but do just enough to strenthen your muscles. if you can´t do that. a lot of stretching before and after
bowling can help. especially with your lower body, arms and shoulder muscles.

To Jhune -

May tenpin bowling lanes sa Batangas ? Please let me know exactly where.

About your injury, looks like you have a slightly slipped (herniated) disc. My wife has a chronic case of this, but she can still bowl. She went down from an 11 pound ball to a 10 pound.

You should get some rest for a few weeks till the pain disappears, maybe try getting back to playing with a lighter ball if you have one. A hot wet pack as often as you can in the affected area will help.

Hope you get well. If you do not take care of it now and it relapses, it might become chronic like my wife´s, and will come back every now and then.

Cheers !

also massage therapy through a certified masseuse. particularly those who deal with athletes. not the ones in ermita again , stretching before and after bowling should minimize the soreness.

well, stretching is so important, but i dont do it regularly(heheheh tamad eh) but to avoid injury it is very important.... gym, as i have said is not required but it is a plus.... body building will worsen your game, strength training lang ha.... when i played badminton sometime last year, it helped my game a lot... normally 8 games i am tired but when i was active in gym and badminton... nakakatagal ako....when you are physically fit, kahit maganda ang mental game mo wala din....

here are the exercises and activities that can help us....
1. walking or jogging...kahit sa mall ok lang...bldg a to bldg b of megamall 5 times is not bad
2. cross training...find some sport na makakatulong... badminton, golf, not tennis ok, basketball(ingat sa injury)
3. yoga.....never tried it
4. and of course sa gabi...... alam ni mark yan...

any more questions?

jhune: why not try lowering the weight of your ball? baka dun ang problem mo kaya may lower back pain ka...
i know some bowler malaking tao sya ayaw nya magbaba ng weight ng bola e mukha naman nabibigatan sya sa bola nyang 16lbs. baka daw alaskahin sya ng mga friends nya...kaya he cannot execute the right shot ewan ko sa kanya PRIDE malamang kaya palaging frustrated

angelo: anu yun pinagsasabi mo dyan? hmmmmm

strength training definitely helps. I've been doing it for years... Smile

I agree with what Angelo says... as with any sport do a lot of stretching and warming up before you start to bowl to loosen up your joints... Smile

Going regularly to the gym not only aids your physique in bowling you also get additional benefits from that exercise. Smile
