Greetings of peace and friendship from Alabang Tenpin Bowling Association ( ATBA ) family…
Please find attached a revised version of the 11th ATBA Open Bowling Championships which shall be
held on May 19 to 26, 2013 at the Astrobowl Bowling Center A, Starmall, Alabang, Muntinlupa City ,
for your info., reference and guidance.
In summary, the amendments to the rules previously sent to you pertain 1st) to the handicapping
system of the Group III - Mixed Seniors Division. The amendment read as follow:
Only male and female bowlers whose ages are 50 years old ( as of May 15, 2013 ) and above
shall be allowed to play for Group III - Mixed Seniors Division.
Additional Handicap for 60 years old and above Lady Senior Bowlers only = + 5
2nd) Breakdown of Perfect Game Prizes ( for 5 - 10 Winners ):
“and 5 to 10 winners - 30%/ 20% / 10% / 10% / 5th-10th @ 5% each”
For expediency, these amendments were all highlighted in yellow.

Greetings of Peace from the Alabang Tenpin Bowling Association Members and Board of Directors!!!
We are cordially inviting all of you to participate in the 11th ATBA OPEN BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS, on May 19 to 26, 2013 at the Astrobowl Bowling Center, located at the 4th Floor Starmall Plaza ( formerly Metropolis Alabang ), Muntinlupa City. This tournament is sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Congress.
Our tournament is a classic format, however, bowlers shall initially play in Mixed Team and Singles events and eventually the Masters’ finals. There will be three (3) divisions for this tournament, namely Group I – Mixed Open Division ( 185 and above average ), Group II – Mixed Classified Division ( 184 and below average ) and the Mixed Seniors Division. However, to qualify for the Master’s events, qualifiers should play at least two ( 2 ) blocks of singles game. Cash prizes shall also be awarded to bowlers who shall bowl a perfect game.
The top prize of P50,000.00 + Trophy will be up for grab for the Group I – Mixed Open Division, P40,000.00
+ Trophy for the Group II – Mixed Classified Division and P40,000 + Trophy for the Mixed Seniors Division. Fees are as follows:
Registration P2,000.00 All Divisions ( inclusive of 2-game series for Team Event and
1-block of 3-game series for Singles Event )
Re-entry Fee P 550.00 Block of 3-Game series
Up-grade Fee P 400.00 Before the up-grade block game of the bowler and he decided to
double-up, the bowler must declare first with the ATBA Open Tournament
Committee and must pay a P300.00 double-up fee.
Finals Fee P3,000.00 Group I – Mixed Open Division (10-game series on May 26 -10:00pm )
P2,800.00 Group II – Mixed Classified Division (10-game series on May 25 –10:00am )
P2,700.00 Group III – Mixed Seniors Division ( 10-game series on May 24 –10:00am )

TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. ORGANIZATION AND SANCTION:
The 11th ATBA Open Bowling Championships is organized by the Alabang Tenpin Bowling Association (ATBA) and is sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC). FIQ/WTBA playing rules and regulations shall apply on matters not covered herein.
2. ELIGIBILITY:
All duly registered members of the PBC and in good standing are eligible to play in this tournament.
3. AVERAGES:
The average scores of each participant will be based on the following order of priority. a. Latest available PBC listing of averages.
b. Association or Club average duly certified by its President or Tournament Director with corresponding
list or tabulated association or club scores.
c. Bowlers without PBC averages shall submit an average certification from their respective association attested by the association President or Tournament Director. Bowlers without certified averages shall be classified as Class O bowlers with an average of 196 for Male and 186 for Ladies.
The Tournament Committee has the right to check and assess the averages of each bowler/s with a certified averages from their respective association.
4. UNIFORMS:
All players are required to wear their association / club bowling uniforms during the games. Sleeveless and collarless shirts will not be allowed. No short pants either will be allowed for male participants.

6. REGISTRATION
Registration of all entries duly accomplished and with corresponding payments shall be accepted at the ATBA Registration Table at Astrobowl Bowling Center. Entries shall be accepted subject to lane availability and squad time. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to accept or reject an entry, postpone, add or cancel any squad time.
7. CHECK-IN TIME
All participants must check-in at the tournament counter at least fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled squad time. The Bowling Center Time shall be the official time of the tournament.
8. TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
All following rules apply for all Mixed Divisions unless stated otherwise.
EVENTS:
MIXED TEAM EVENT
a. Consists of a 2-game series (including handicap) played by three (3) males, or three (3) females or mixed bowlers (limited to 2 Class O or national player per team)from different classification.
b. Winner shall be determined by the total number of pinfalls plus handicap.
c. Any registered team may play as many sets as they want to try for their best qualifying games.
SINGLES EVENT
a. Consists of a 3-game series plus handicap. Bowler’s score in his/her singles attempts shall
automatically be considered as his/her score in the qualifying event.
b. Winner shall be determined by the total score plus handicaps after three (3) games.
c. Any registered Singles bowler may play as many sets as they want to try for their best qualifying games provided that such bowler had played at least one (1) set in the Team event.

9. MASTERS EVENTS
To qualify for the masters events, qualifiers should play at least 2 blocks of singles game. Qualifiers will be ranked based on their best 2 sets of singles played during the qualifying period. Last day of qualifying for a specific division will be the day before the scheduled division’s master finals.
GROUP I – MIXED OPEN DIVISION
The Champion from OPEN DIVISION I of the 10th ATBA Open 2012 will be seeded in the finals and can play only in GROUP I together with the top 35 bowlers ( top 8 male, top 5 female and 22 mixed bowlers ) who are qualified based on their 2 blocks scores. However, bowlers from Group II – Mixed Classified Division and Group III – Mixed Seniors Division, may qualify and join the Masters events of Group I-Mixed Open Division with a maximum handicap of 24 / 32.
GROUP II – MIXED CLASSIFIED DIVISION
Top 36 ( top 8 male, top 5 female and 23 mixed bowlers ) bowlers based on their 2 blocks scores are qualified in the Masters Events of Group II – Mixed Classified Division.
GROUP III – MIXED SENIORS DIVISION
Top 36 bowlers based on their 2 blocks scores are qualified in the Masters Events of Group III –
Mixed Seniors Division.
9.1 Seeded bowlers or Champions from 10th ATBA Open are required to play 2-set of 3-games in order to be qualified in the Masters Events.
9.2 Masters Events shall be composed of Ten (10) games for the Group I-Mixed Open Division, Ten (10) Games for Group II - Mixed Classified Divisions and Ten (10) games for Group III – Mixed Seniors Division.
9.3 There will be lane transfer after every game during the elimination round.
9.4 For All Mixed Divisions, positioning games on 9th and 10th games shall be applied. Ranked no. 1 after the 10-game series shall be declared as MASTERS CHAMPIONS for MIXED OPEN, MIXED CLASSIFIED and MIXED SENIORS of the 11th ATBA OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

11. TIE BREAKING RULES:
MIXED TEAM : The team with the least difference between the highest and lowest combined score of the team (including handicap) in the series shall occupy the higher position.
QUALIFYING / SINGLES: The bowler with the least difference between the highest and the lowest game
(including handicap) of his/her series shall occupy the higher position.
MASTERS: In case of tie for the 1st place after the finals in all divisions, tie breaker will be a one –game roll –off to determine the 1st placer . The same rule shall be applied for other ranks.
If the tie occurs during the elimination rounds, the bowler with the least difference between the highest and lowest game ( including handicap ) shall occupy the higher position.

12. FEES:
12.1 The bowler must pay all fees before playing any event unless prior arrangement is made with the organizing committee.
12.2 FEE'S and RE-ENTRY FEE will be as follows:
12.2.1 Teams - P 1050.00 ( 3 bowlers @ 2 games each - Php 350/bowler )
12.2.2 Singles - P 550.00 ( 3 games )
12.2.3 Upgrade - P 400.00 and P 300.00 for double-up games
12.3 MASTERS EVENTS FINALS FEE
12.3.1 Group I - Mixed Open Division - P3,000.00 ( 10 games )
12.3.2 Group II – Mixed Classified Division - P2,800.00 ( 10 games )
12.3.3 Group III – Mixed Seniors Division - P2,700.00 ( 10 games )
13 RESERVATION:
Reservations to play in a particular squad are allowed on a first-come first-serve basis provided the corresponding fees are paid upon reservation.
14 REFUNDS:
No refund of fees will be made after the payment has been accepted. Participants who failed to show up on time for their scheduled squad, all fees for this entry will automatically be forfeited. The tournament committee or any appointed official/s on duty, reserves the right to sell, allocate or reassign such forfeited entries.
15. SCORESHEET:
Official score sheets must be signed by the bowlers after each game to acknowledge his/her score. If the bowler fails to sign his/her score sheets, it is presumed that the score is correct and no protest on such basis shall be entertained. For team event, the designated captain must sign the score sheets. A tournament official immediately upon discovery of such error must correct errors in scoring or in calculation in the tournament play. Questionable errors shall be declared /decided by the Tournament Committee. Any player who deliberately tampers his/her score sheet shall be disqualified Immediately from further participation in the tournament.
16. OPEN BOWLING:
When the tournament has started, participants shall not be allowed to play open bowling regardless of lane availability in the venue of the tournament.
17. MISSING OR DOWN PIN(S):
A frame with missing pin(s), once the ball is rolled shall be treated as a good ball, a frame with fallen or down pin(s) on the pin deck must be reset. All bowlers are entrusted to monitor and abide by this rule. Bowlers are not allowed to reset the pins; only lane men, tournament officials and official scorers are allowed.
18. LANE ASSIGNMENT:
Games shall be played in a pair of lanes immediately adjacent to each other as determined by drawing of lots.
19. LANE BREAKDOWN:
The tournament directors or his duly appointed officer of the day may authorize the transfer of the game to another pair of lanes due to equipment failures. An interrupted game or series must resume from the points or frames of interruption without practice bowling.

20. FOUL LINES:
Bowlers must at all times observe foul lines. If the automatic foul device becomes temporarily inoperative, the Tournament Committee shall assign Marshall to act as a foul judge. Official scorers are also designated to monitor fouls committed by bowlers and spectators shall not be permitted to interfere with the calls of the duly designated foul judge.
21. OILING:
Uniform oiling shall be used throughout the tournament.
22. PROTEST:
All protests must be done in writing and be addressed to the Tournament Committee within 24hrs; otherwise, no protest shall be entertained thereafter. The decision of the Tournament Committee shall be final.
23. INTERPRETATION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS:
23.1 The Tournament Committee shall be the sole interpreter of these rules and regulations. Its decision shall be final.
23.2 World FIQ and PBC rules shall apply to matters not covered by these rules.
